Major tax reform was approved by Congress in the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) on December 22nd, 2017. Despite having been the tax code for two years now, there are tax planning strategies that many are unaware of, and therefore, strategies that have not yet been implemented. For some, these strategies may ease the tax burden of Required Minimum Distributions from retirement accounts, ease the tax burden one might pass to beneficiaries, and diversify tax treatment of assets in retirement.
